After beating Miguel Cotto on Saturday night, newly crowned Middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez told Max Kellerman that it’s his era now. He couldn’t be more correct.
The younger, bigger and stronger Mexican slowly broke down old guard Miguel Cotto en route to the UD win. There were no knockdowns but it was nevertheless exciting and action-filled.
Cotto came out of the gates with the game plan everyone talked about and that was to box, box and box. Along the way, he nailed Canelo early with a couple of good shots like this:

But as the fight went on, the size difference began to tell its story. Canelo was rangier and was at least one weight class stronger than Miguel Cotto:
